To be played at 33 1/3. This version of "New Mind" is similar to the "purple version" on the black LOVE WILL TEAR US APART 12" (which is equivalent to the "acoustic version" on VARIOUS FAILURES). However, according to Jarboe, it is a slightly different mix that is unavailable anywhere else. It was recorded in December, 1987 at Fun City Studio. The vinyl version comes with a 2' x 3' poster with photos of SWANS performing. LOVE ONE and LOVE ONE CD have completely different cover art. The LP has a colour photograph of MG and a gang of Eastern European kids all carrying Swans flyers. The CD has yellow text on a black background and no pictures. The order of "Blind Love" and "Hello To All Our Friends" is reversed on the LOVE ONE CD. The Atavistic re-release features the same cover photograph as the original LP. The CD was extensively remastered by Michael Gira, and is nearly five minutes shorter than the original. "Trust Me" is the ninth track on the Atavistic CD, but does not appear in the track list. The Columbia House version is identical to the commercial version except for a small "CRC" on the back cover. There appears to be a bootleg (?) version of this CD which includes "Love Will Tear Us Apart" as the eleventh track. This version was spotted in Poland and looks almost identical to the legitimate release, but it includes the second catalogue number CD 583 941. Rather than "copyright control except:", the label on the bootleg reads "copyright control concept:". In late 2002 I began to receive reports of a European bootleg of DMCG 6047 on a label called Chrome. It includes "Love Will Tear Us Apart" (with Gira vocals) as a hidden bonus track. That one song sounds like it has been mastered from the vinyl. An official, but limited, re-release of this album was sold through the Swans and Young God web sites in 2003. The song has not been officially released anywhere else, although it exists on live tapes from this era.
